The first step of redoing the whole house is the master bedroom.
Unfortunately, due to circumstances I'll go into later, I don't have a before picture of what it looked like before. However, I do have some pictures of halfway through.
So, first things first was to completely rip the room to pieces. It took less than a day. We ripped the carpet up and ripped all the furniture to pieces.
Next step: walls and ceilings. The old wall had a feature wall of dark purple. So I had to paint over the purple with white emulsion just to neutralise it. Next, painted the ceiling and coving with white emulsion. That took a couple of coats. After that, I filled all the walls where there were dents etc with age and sanded it down. Not going to lie, this was hard work! I've never done anything like this before and I didn't realize it would involve so much effort! Next were to finally paint the walls! I went for Natural Wicker by Dulux. Luckily, they had two tins for £24 on at B&Q at the time so got quite a bargain.
And that so far is it! Decoration etc will come in a later blog post.

That was after all the walls were completed! I'm really happy with the colour. It's neutral and I can pretty much hang whatever on the walls and I know it'll go well. After that, did the tiresome glossing of the door, window sill, skirting boards and radiator.
Next was to buy the carpet. Me and my other half visited a lot of carpet shops that day. A lot. If I never saw a carpet sample again after that day, I would've been very happy. After popping to Twydall Carpets, a local shop, I found one I really liked but it was slightly over-budget. So off we popped to Carpet Right where I was hooked in straight away by a salesman. Who then tried to not only charge me double for the same quality I found at an independent shop, but also charge for delivery and fitting and insurance. Um, no thanks. Eventually ended up at another independent shop where I
managed to get an offcut, nearly exactly the size of the room for just over £200 including fitting!
Next was blinds! I got the blinds from a fantastic website called 247Blinds. They sell made to measure blinds, came in two days and they're so affordable, I would recommend them to anyone. I went for the Ecowood in Pure White.
